Clifford Chance

Clifford Chance was hugely successful at the IFLR Europe Awards 2016, leading the way in the loan and private equity categories.

Recognition at the event in London on Thursday 21 April 2016 included:

• Loan Team of the Year
• Private Equity Team of the Year
• Loan Deal of the Year – ChemChina and its tyre-making division China National Tire & Rubber financing of a US$7.7bn bid to buy Italian tire-maker Pirelli, part of a wave of Chinese investment in established brands and businesses globally. 
• Private Equity Deal of the Year – Cinven's parallel acquisitions, merger and financings of Labco (€1.3 billion) in France and Synlab (€1.7 billion) in Germany‎.
• M&A Deal of the Year – GE's proposed acquisition of the power and grid businesses of Alstom (over €12 billion), including the submission of a remedies package to the European Commission.

These awards recognise not only the quality of Clifford Chance's private equity and loan teams across Europe, but also the strength across corporate, equity capital markets, antitrust, leveraged finance, high yield and regulatory, all of whom were involved in the Labco and Synlab deals.

The firm also received four National Law Firm of the Year awards:

• Poland Law Firm of the Year
