Clifford Chance wins Project Finance Deal of the Year

For the second consecutive year, Clifford Chance has been awarded the IFLR Americas Project Finance Deal of the Year award.

Americas

Clifford Chance were recognised for our stellar work on the Pecém coal-fired thermal power plant project led by Washington, D.C. partner Lori Bean.

Clifford Chance, who shared the award with three other firms who participated in the matter, advised Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as lender for the US$1.5 billion project, which involved the design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of a 720 megawatt coal-fired thermal plant at Porto de Pecém in Ceará, Brazil.

The Pecém project is part of the Brazilian government’s Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento, which calls for private and public infrastructure spending of 504 billion reais (US$283.3 billion) through 2010 to boost growth in Latin America's largest economy.

Yana Kravtsova was the lead associate on a DC team that included Audrey Yiadom.

Patrick Jackson in São Paulo also assisted Lori with the transaction.
