Data privacy

Clifford Chance operates a global cross-practice-area group of lawyers specialising in data protection and related "data management" issues (confidentiality, bank secrecy, regulatory restrictions on outsourcing of data processing, record retention requirements, privilege, etc.) The group is supported by associates in Clifford Chance's TMT group.

Clifford Chance provides data protection advice and/or strategic guidance from all of its global offices except Sao Paulo and works with an established group of experts in other firms in virtually all jurisdictions where it does not have a presence. Most cross-jurisdictional projects are co-ordinated from London, with some projects co-ordinated from Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, New York, Paris and Singapore. Our London office often plays a strategic role on projects which are co-ordinated from other offices, allowing clients to benefit from lower local rates in relation to, for example, the instruction of counsel in multiple jurisdictions, but also from the depth and breadth of knowhow and experience available in London.
