Market abuse / market conduct

Starting Area/Sector information

Clifford Chance has extensive experience of advising on market conduct investigations across our offices.

Given the integration of markets, increasingly such investigations will be carried out simultaneously by regulators in different jurisdictions. These investigations are not limited to situations of suspected market misconduct, but also cover investigations into firm’s systems and controls to prevent such misconduct. The strength of our global network means that we can deliver an integrated response. When doing so we work closely with our market-leading regulatory advisory practices.

We have acted for many of the major trade associations and regulated markets for many years as well as representing major market participants, including investment banks, and specialist commodity houses. Our experience ensures that we have up to date expertise in the securities and commodities markets, which is invaluable in advising clients in this area.

We regularly help clients, on a global basis, to establish and/or verify their internal compliance procedures regarding market abuse and market manipulation, as well as assisting in developing and implementing internal training programmes.
