I am working in the securitisation department and I am presently working on a multi-jurisdictional deal, which involves the securitisation of depreciating assets. I am fairly new to Clifford Chance and securitisation, but my initial impression is that my team works hard, but they are good at socialising too and are very welcoming.
The London office is a great place to work. I suppose the great building at Canary Wharf with the squash courts, gym and the great canteen should be incentive enough, but I think the infrastructure and support system at the London office is phenomenal and it makes working here a lot easier.
London has a very rich history and is incredibly multicultural. No one can feel like an outsider, especially Indians. Another thing is that there is a lot to do in London at any given point; be it in theatre, the museums, or just strolling along the different parts of the city, each of which is completely different from the others. In addition, despite what Londoners say, the transport system is actually fairly efficient and it is easy to travel in and around the city.
The weather is trying at times, and I suppose there are advantages to getting free showers on the way to work!!
London is the commercial capital of the world and it offers a diversity of experience that wouldn’t be afforded to me in India despite the fact that India is a growing economy. This allows me to work on international deals on a scale that would not be possible in India at present.
I joined Clifford Chance in February 2008. I graduated in August 2007 from the National Law School of India University and this is the first firm I am working for.
