I am on a secondment from the New York office to the Dubai office. While in New York, I worked on several high-profile cross-border securitisation transactions in coordination with the London and Frankfurt offices. I also had an opportunity to work on a break-through India-related transaction involving foreign investment in about 3,200 acres of real estate in India. The transaction had a pioneering structure from a tax perspective and nine law firms in four different countries were involved in the transaction. Since I have been in Dubai, I have been involved in several complex Islamic structures and products, including Sukuk and Shari'a-compliant derivatives.
The Dubai office is a great place to work. With the rising petro-liquidity in the region, the Middle East has been one of the fastest growing emerging markets in the world. As a result, the Dubai office has been very busy with being involved in several high-profile transactions. Personally, I have been working on some cutting-edge Islamic finance transactions and am thoroughly enjoying my learning experience.
Clifford Chance is a great law firm, with its offices around the world seamlessly integrated. The firm provides a wonderful environment for lawyers to develop their careers and pursue their desires to focus on particular transaction areas - like myself moving to Dubai from New York to specialise in Islamic finance transactions.
I joined Clifford Chance in 2006. Before joining Clifford Chance, I worked with another leading law firm in New York.
