Sharis A. Pozen

Sharis Pozen is the Regional Managing Partner, Americas, Chair Emeritus of the Global Antitrust Group, and a member of the firm's global Executive Leadership Group. She has extensive experience in both government and private practice. Over the course of her career, Sharis has held senior positions at General Electric (GE), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and two major law firms based in New York and Washington, D.C.

She advises clients on a broad spectrum of antitrust issues related to mergers and acquisitions, litigation, criminal investigations, counseling and compliance across national and multinational industries, including technology and telecommunications, health care and life science, energy, financial services, transportation, agriculture, and consumer products.

Prior to joining Clifford Chance, Sharis was the Vice President of Global Competition Law and Policy at GE, where she was responsible for antitrust merger clearance on numerous significant, transformational mergers and acquisitions, steering global antitrust investigations to positive conclusions, antitrust compliance and other related issues.

While leading the Antitrust Division of the DOJ, Sharis led the successful efforts in blocking AT&T’s proposed US$39 billion purchase of T-Mobile, initiated the eBooks case against Apple and five publishers and oversaw the Department's successful investigation and prosecution of auto parts cartels, the largest criminal matter in the division’s history. She also represented the U.S. on competition issues before the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the International Competition Network.

  • General Electric on numerous, successful global internal and government investigations, including in the US, EU, EU Member-states, Brazil, China, and Korea, and advised on GE’s global compliance policy.
  • Consumer Product, technology, telecommunications and energy multinationals on numerous antitrust merger clearances and various antitrust matters
  • Third party technology companies in the DOJ, FTC, and state AG investigations and litigations of digital platforms, including Google and Meta
  • Global Music Rights in the DOJ consideration of the BMI and ASCAP consent agreements
  • Sinochem and ChemChina on the antitrust aspects of their strategic merger
  • Epic Games, a video game and software development company and creator of the hugely popular video game Fortnite, on global litigation and antitrust authority investigations
  • Philip Morris International on various antitrust issues, including its cash tender offer of Swedish Match AB totaling US$15.7 billion
  • Shell on various antitrust issues
  • Pfizer on various antitrust issues
  • Sedgwick on:
    • its acquisition of JND Legal Administration
    • its acquisition of York Risk Services Group. Sedgwick's strategic acquisition of York enhances its position as a global industry leader
    • its strategic sale of group health peer review and IME business to ExamWorks
  • Symrise AG in connection with the sale of its chicken-based food ingredients business located in Banks County, Georgia to Kerry
