Tackling Water Scarcity - Water Trading Concepts and Possibilities

Water scarcity is increasingly becoming an issue for large corporate users of freshwater. It is also beginning to receive mainstream public and media attention as never before. Driven by two converging phenomena: growing freshwater use and depletion of usable freshwater resources, action to reduce water usage and provide greater supplies more efficiently is increasing. Water trading seeks to address these issues and is a concept receiving growing interest. This article considers how water trading works, the possibilities for wider adoption of its use and other possible solutions that may impact on businesses going forward.
