New COMESA Merger Control Guidelines published

The COMESA Competition Commission – the regional competition authority for the 19-country Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) – has published new Merger Assessment Guidelines. These address many of the initial problems of the nascent regime, in particular by introducing new (albeit low) filing thresholds and adopting a broadly sensible approach to issues of jurisdiction and procedure.
