Australian carbon tax update [Japanse version]

Australia’s “Clean Energy” legislative package of 19 bills was passed into law on 8 November 2011.

This package is set against the backdrop of the Government’s commitment to reduce carbon pollution by 5 per cent from 2000 levels by 2020 irrespective of what other countries do, and by up to 15 or 25 per cent depending on the scale of global action.

It is the Government’s view that a broad-based carbon price is the most environmentally effective (and cheapest) way to reduce pollution.
