
Rick Antonoff
Experience and career history
Rick Antonoff represents domestic and foreign banks, private equity firms, hedge funds and other parties in all aspects of formal bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court financial restructuring. His experience includes lending, investing, bankruptcy litigation and acquiring distressed businesses. He has particular expertise in insolvency issues related to derivatives, structured and securitized products including termination, netting and setoff rights under repurchase agreements, forward contracts, swaps and related master agreements.
Recent engagements include representing creditors in restructuring an aggregate notional amount of more than $10 billion of monoline insured credit default swaps, controlling holder of CMBS certificates in Extended Stay Hotels, repurchase counterparty in American Home Mortgage, chair of the official creditors committee in Eclipse Aviation, and an interest rate swap counterparty in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy case. He also recently acted as counsel to the Loan Syndications & Trading Association as amicus curiae in connection with appellate review of credit bidding in bankruptcy.
Rick is frequently invited to speak on bankruptcy topics at legal education seminars and provides commentary for print and broadcast media. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Structured Finance Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
