George Kleinfeld advises on US trade and investment regulation, including US economic sanctions, export controls and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). His clients for sanctions advice include several of the world’s leading international banks and he holds a Band One ranking from the Chambers USA guide for his expertise in US foreign investment regulation. He has obtained national security clearances for high-profile foreign acquisitions of strategic US business assets from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Mr. Kleinfeld works closely with the firm's global corporate, capital markets and finance practices to resolve complex due diligence and transactional issues under the OFAC regulations, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the FCPA. He also specializes in the development and implementation of compliance and training programs to enable clients to understand and satisfy their obligations under US foreign trade control and investment laws. He also has advised clients in WTO proceedings under, e.g., the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).
