Michael Smyth CBE
Experience and career history
Michael Smyth was for twenty years a partner in the firm, leading the public policy and government affairs practice and with overall responsibility for Clifford Chance's pro bono activities. He has extensive experience of commercial litigation and dispute avoidance, media litigation and public law.
He writes and lectures regularly and he was for many years highly recommended in industry surveys for his administrative law, public policy and defamation expertise. He is the author of Business and the Human Rights Act (2000).
Amonst Michael's many voluntary commitments he is Chairman of Community Links, the accalimed east London charity and was made a Commander of the British Empire in 2009. He is a member of the Press Complaints Commisssion.
